Center of Local Chronicles and Genealogies

  Established in April 1990, the Center of Local Chronicles and Genealogies has a collection of 6,300 titles (120,000 volumes) of ancient local records and genealogies, 3,300 titles (6,000 volumes) of new local records and genealogies published since 1949, and many monographs and reference books concerning local records and genealogies. Beside, the Center also collects 2,700 (30,000 volumes) titles of original ancient genealogies from the Ming dynasty to the Republican Era, several hundreds of titles of newly compiled genealogies since 1949, 1,000 titles of microfilms of local records donated by Utah State Genealogical Society. The genealogical collection ranks second among libraries in China.
  The Center is making efforts to develop and utilize documents of local records. It has completed several database projects, such as "Index of Biographies in Chinese Local Records", "Index of Papers on Chinese Local Records" and "System of Bibliographical Retrieval of Local Records", by integrating traditional culture and modern technologies.
