Visiting
in 2003
1. Mr. J. Zenen Buergo Concepcion, Counsellor of Embassy of the
Republic of Cuba, visited the NLC on Jan. 14th to discuss about
the ceremony of the first publishing of Chinese translation of Biography
of Jose Marti, the great poet of Cuba for commemorating him.
2. Mr. Zhang Yanbo, Deputy Director of NLC, had the meeting with
the delegation led by Choe Tae Bok, chairman of the DPRK Supreme
People's Assembly on Jan. 27th. During the meeting, Dr. Zhang introduced
the NLC briefly and led the delegates to visit China Digital Library
Co. Ltd., electronic reading room and rare book reading room.
3. The NLC and Embassy of Cuba co-hosted the ceremony of the first
publishing of Chinese translation of Biography of Jose Marti, the
great poet of Cuba for commemorating him in the Library on Feb.
14th.
4. Mr. Yang Bingyan, Deputy Director of NLC, had the meeting with
Mr. John McKinnon, Ambassador of New Zealand on Feb. 18th.
5. Mrs. Zhang Yafang, Deputy Director of NLC, had the meeting with
Mr. ANAMI KORESHIGE, Ambassador of Japan, and his wife on Mar. 11th.
6. Mrs. TATIANA ISTICIOAIA, Counsellor of Embassy of Romania, visited
the Library on Mar. 31st.
7. Mrs. Zhang Yafang, Deputy Director of NLC, had the meeting with
Mrs. Tuet Sun-fan, Alima, Chief Librarian of Leisure and Cultural
Services Department Hong Kong Public Libraries on April 2nd.
8. Mrs. Zhang Yafang, Deputy Director of NLC, had the meeting with
Mr. Stephen Bourne, President of Cambridge University Press on April
2nd.
9. Mr. Yang Bingyan, Deputy Director of NLC, had the meeting with
Mr. Michael Paul Huff, Information Resource Officer of Embassy of
the United States of America on April 7th.
10. Dra. Hiraida Rodriguez Mondeja, Ambassador's wife, visited the
Library on April 7th.
11. Mr. Yang Bingyan, Deputy Director of NLC, had the meeting with
the delegation of the Council of External Cultural Relations of
DPRK, on April 9th.
12. Mrs. Zhang Yafang, Deputy Director of NLC, had the meeting with
Mr. Shaoki Galal, famous writer of Egypt on April 15th.
13. Mrs. Susan Whitfield, Director of IDP of the British Library,
and Mrs. Helen Shenton, Head of Collection Care of the British Library
visited the NLC to discuss about the technical issues of Chinese
web site of IDP in the NLC on April 21st.
14. Mr. Afrasiab, the counselor of Embassy of Pakistan visited National
Library of China on May 27, 2003.
15. The 90 Anniversary of the birthday of famous Venezuela Poet,
Vincente was held at National Library of China on July 31, 2003.
The ambassadors of several countries was present at the anniversary.
16. The Youth Reading Party of the Latin-America Division of Foreign
Ministry visited the National Library of China on August 13, 2003.
Ms. Zhang Yafang, the deputy Director of NLC had meeting with them.
17. Mr. Zhuang Mingzu of TTV visited National Library of China on
August 22, 2003.
18. The cultural Delegation of Zambia Government visited NLC. Mr.
Yang Bingyan, the deputy director of NLC had meeting with them on
August 26, 2003.
19. The Mongolian Library Delegation visited NLC from August 31
to September 7, 2003.
20. According to the cooperation agreement, two librarians from
Queen Library of New York, USA, Ms. Ge Lin and Ms. Hsieh got a training
program which lasted for a month from September 1, 2003.
21. Mr. Chen Li, Deputy Director of NLC had meeting with the cultural
delegation of Philippines on September 9, 2003.
22. Ms. Zhang Yafang, Deputy Director of NLC had meeting with the
Cultural Delegation of Thailand Government on September 10, 2003.
23. Mr. Zhang Xiaoxing, Deputy Director of NLC had meeting with
Mr. Karen Calboun, the Director of the Library of Cornell University,
USA on September 15, 2003.
24. Mr. Ren Jiyu Director of NLC and Ms. Zhang Yafang, Deputy Director
of NLC had meeting with the 24th delegation of Nippon Shuppan Hanbai
INC on September 19, 2003.
25. Ms. Zhang Yafang, Deputy Director of NLC had meeting with Ms.
Valgerd Svarstad Haugland, the Minister of Culture and Church Affairs
of Norway on September 23, 2003.
26. French guests, Mrs. Agnes Roussin-Choussy and Mrs. Fanny Haas
visited NLC on September 25, 2003.
27. The Exhibition of Ten Bamboo Studios which was organized by
NLC and National Szechenyi Library was held in Hungary. The Prime
Minister of Hungary was present at the exhibition on September 29,
2003. Ms. Zhang Yafang, Deputy Director of NLC gave an address on
behalf of the National Library of China.
28. Mr. Chen Li, the Deputy Director of NLC had meeting with the
foreign guests who attended the Digital Resources Conference on
October 11, 2003.
29. Mr. Chen Li, Deputy Director of NLC had meeting with the National
Library Delegation of Mauritius on October 13, 2003.
30. Mr. Alain Arrault, researcher of Ecole Franai?aise D¡¯Extreme-Orient
Centre de Pekin and Mr. Eric Trombert, Charg¨¦ de recherche of Centre
de recherche sur la civilization chinoise visited the National Library
of China on October 15, 2003.
31. Ms. Julia Chan, the Director of Medical Library of Hongkong
University visited NLC on October 17, 2003.
32. The teachers from ABAC of Thailand visited National Library
of China on October 24, 2003.
33. Professor Kitagawa Kuniyuki of Nagoya University visited the
National Library of China on October 27, 2003.
34. Mr. Olmert, the Counselor of Agriculture&Technology of Israel
Embassy in China attended the signing ceremony of ALEPH 500 and
then visited the National Library of China on October 28, 2003.
35. Mr. Heltman, the Business Counselor of German Embassy in China
attended the signing ceremony of National Library of China Phase
Two on October 31, 2003 and then visited National Library of China.
