Digital Newspapers Repository Project

The NLC Digital Newspapers Repository (DiNeR for short) was established in 2005 for the purpose of inheriting Chinese civilization and permanently preserving Chinese cultural heritage. The NLC has collected over 200 titles of digital newspapers published in recent years through web harvesting and legal deposit of newspaper publishers. All of those newspapers are in their original editions and original layouts for readers to browse and retrieve. The project is currently in the process of completion, and we sincerely hope to get help and support from people of all social circles.

Chinese Newspapers

Location: South side, 4th floor, NLC North Area.
Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00-21:00 (For reservation of close-stack reading documents: 9:00-16:00, preservation collections of Chinese newspapers are not available on Saturday)

	• China Academic Journals Full-text Database (CNKI) It is a continuously updated full-text database that collects academic and reference documents from around 1,000 openly published major newspapers since 2000. Over 1.2 million pieces of documents have been handpicked every year since 2006.
	• Reference News This database has collected all of Reference News' newspapers in original version, their texts, pictures, forms and advertisements since its first issue on 1 March 1957.
	• Economics Daily News This database has collected all of Economics Daily News' newspapers in original version, their texts, pictures, forms and advertisements since its first issue on January 1st 1983.
	• Wisenews The database has collected hundreds of newspapers published in Mainland and Hong Kong, as well as the specialized data provided by the China Statistics Press.
	• People's Daily Full-text Database In this database, you can retrieve all documents published on People's Daily since 1946 in terms of titles, sources, full text and images. You can also get the information of their original versions.
	• Genius Finance It collects financial and economic news from over 70 titles of major economics and finance newspapers, periodicals or magazines. It also classifies news into different categories such as stocks, mutual funds, bonds and more. Over 2,300 pieces of news are updated daily. Besides financial news, the system also includes bulletins and announcements of listed companies, mutual funds and bonds as well as securities legislation, regulations and more.
	• News Smart Web It collects lots of Taiwan local newspapers (the ten major newspapers in Taiwan), including columns such as politics, social news, financial news, entertainment and arts, sports and supplements. Currently it has collected more than 13 million pieces of news.
	• The Database of National Index to Chinese Newspaper & Periodicals The Database of National Index to Chinese Newspaper & Periodicals collects more than 6000 titles of periodicals in social sciencesand 200 titles of newspapers in the country, and yearly updates over 200,000 pieces of data.
	• Chinese Newspapers Full-text Database (Apabi) More than 400 titles of core newspapers from national newspaper groups were collected, the article content of which could be searched according to newspaper name, column, article name and picture, and the original newspaper will be provided through the articles searched out. Meanwhile, the search methods, such as according to region, classification, and alphabetic order, are provided.

	• Access World News The database provides full-text electronic copies of over 1,300 titles of most popular and most circulated newspapers from different countries in the world. The library subscribes to over 120 titles of newspapers among them.
	• Business and Company Resource Center (GALE) Readers can retrieve detailed information of 450,000 companies and 8,000 different industry organizations from over 2,800 titles of full-text business journals and over 100 titles of newspapers.
	• Factiva The database provides important business information in 22 languages from 122 countries. Contents cover about thirty industries, such as transportation, health care, accounting services, agriculture & forestry, entertainment and arts, mechanics and electronics. It also includes over 2,300 titles of newspapers, 4,200 titles of periodicals and magazines, 640 regional and industry news lines, and 35,000 edited global companies' reports.
	• ProQuest Wall Street Journals-East Edition The Wall Street Journal is an authoritative source of business news in America. It circulates all around the country, and is the newspaper with the largest daily circulation in America. By reading some key statistics and reports on Wall Street Journal, readers can quickly and accurately grasp America's economy ups and downs.
	• EBSCOhost The Library purchased EBSCOhost's eleven sub-databases (supporting more than ten languages including Chinese). Among them, some distinguished databases are: Academic Source Premier (Full text of publications, reviews), Business Source Complete (academic), Military & Government Collection (military and government information), Newspaper Source (International newspapers, American newspapers), LISTA (Library science, information science and technology).
