   Rules and Regulations for Readers
·The National Library of China is open to readers who are aged 16 and above (Children's Library is open to children aged from 6 to 15); On weekends and public holidays middle school students and younger children accompanied by their parents, can visit the NLC; Public tours of the NLC are available for groups organized by middle schools and primary schools all the year around.

·Readers can apply for reader's card for free for the first time by ID cards, military ID cards, solider cards, passports, pass to Hong Kong and Macao, home-visiting certificate of Taiwan fellowmen, or residence booklet, and acquire the basic functions of reader's cards, which will have extended function with other corresponding conditions; Children can apply for reader's card of NLC Children's Library by valid certificates (ID cards, residence booklet, passport, pass to Hong Kong and Macao, home-visiting certificate of Taiwan fellowmen), enrollment card or student identity card. ·Readers must provide the Reader's Card to gain entrance to the reading rooms and to request services. Chinese citizens aged 16 and above can access to the open-stack reading rooms upon presenting your second-generation ID card. Children can access to NLC Children's Library by presenting reader's card of Children's Library.

·Holders of the Reader's Card must follow the relevant regulations and rules of the National Library of China. For severe violations of the rules, all rights of his/her Reader's Card or second-generation ID card will be suspended until necessary corrections takes place.

·On presentation of valid identifications, senior visitors to the Library are entitled to lending priorities and disabled visitors will be able to use the Internet service free of charge.

·Please leave any bag, water or other personal belongings not needed to use in the lockers. Use your Reader's Card or ID Card to rent a locker free of charge.

·Because seats are limited, for insuring the needs of readers who look for materials, personal books (including those borrowed in Loan Stack Room of the Library) are not allowed to read in the Library.

·Readers should be aware of their appearance and be neatly dressed in the Library. No undershirts, thongs, flip-flops, or slippers are allowed.

·Smoking is prohibited within the Library. Any inflammable or explosive items are also not allowed in the Library.

·Please eat and drink in the designated areas only. Please do not bring food or drinks to the reading rooms.

·No entertainment, business or any other inappropriate activities are permitted in the reading rooms.

·Please keep quiet in the Library. Any mobile phones or other electronic devices must be switched to the silent mode.

·Expect for special permission, no photos are permitted in the Reading Rooms (Flashlight is not allowed).

·Please abide by the regulations of the Library and follow the instructions given by the Library staff.
