By 2007, NLC has collected a variety of over 100,000 pieces of video materials, including 21,232 DVDs, 1,880 LDs, 70,520 VCDs, 260 VHDs and 14,608 video recordings.

These video resources cover many different subjects, including languages and words, philosophy, religions, politics, law, military affairs, culture, education, sports, economics, arts, literature, industrial technology, medical science, history, geography, mathematics and physics, chemistry, astronomy, earth science, biology, agricultural science, aeronautics and astronautics, environmental science, safety science and more. Among them, a key component of the video resources is the Chinese and international great films collection.

The NLC has collected original edition DVDs of foreign classic films and TV series.

Every year, NLC purchases original edition DVDs of foreign classic films and TV series in large quantity. They are primarily classic films and TV dramas. Master works in dance, animation and other areas are also part of the collection.
