Director Dr. Chen Li, deputy director of the National Library of China (NLC)

A BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF Mr. CHEN LI, THE DIRECTOR OF IFLA-PAC CHINA CENTER, DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE NLC

Born in 1958 in Sichuan, China, Dr. Li Chen studied in the Sichuan University from 1978 to 1988 and got his Bachelor, Master and Doctorate Degree in History. From April 1988 to January 2001, he worked in the Sichuan University Library and was in charge of the public services, old books restoration and cataloguing, and acquisitions. In 1994 he was promoted to be a senior librarian. In 1995 and in 1996 he was appointed respectively as the deputy director and the director of the University Library. Since 2001, he has been working for the National Library of China as the deputy director.

Dr. Chen was the member of the Library and Information Committee of Universities and Colleges of the Ministry of Education and the secretary general and the deputy director of the Library and Information Committee of Sichuan Universities and Colleges; he is now the board standing member of the China Society of Library Science Board.

Dr. Chen has made great contributions to the library society. He participated the Conference of Director of National Libraries in Asia and Oceania (CDNLAO) several times. In the beginning of 2004, he was selected to be the director of the China Preservation and Conservation Center of IFLA (IFLA-PAC).

Dr. Li Chen is well known in the field of Philology, History and Library Science and published many articles in professional publications.
