Rubbing is one of the most important carriers to record Chinese document. National Library of China has more than 230000 rubbings including tortoise shells, bronze, stones and so on. The rubbings include a lot of useful materials for the researchers on history, geography, politics, economics, military science, folklore, literature, art, science and technology, architecture, and etc.

·Dunhuang Materials
The International Dunhuang Project is a ground-breaking international collaboration based at the British library to make information and images of more than 100,000 manuscripts, paintings, textiles and artefacts from Dunhuang and other Silk Road sites freely available on the Internet. The high quality colour images and historically accurate information are searchable on the IDP DATABASE. Items are shown in context, with bibliographies, maps, photographs, site plans and other information relating to their provenance, history and present condition. This gives the scholar, the student and the layman a unique insight into Silk Road life during the first millennium AD.

·Xixia Materials
Most of the Xixia Materials collected in NLC are the only existing copies in Xixia and Yuan Dynasty, which have 700 years’ history or so. They are in the same era with the reliable texts in the Song and Yuan Dynasty. Xixia materials such as the paper, cover and inscription silk collected in NLC are the rare materials, which are used for the researches on paper and silk material in Xixia and Yuan Dynasty respectively. Xixia materials are of great importance for the researches on Xixia Buddhism

·New Year Pictures
Traditional New Year Pictures are very popular in China, which are loved by Chinese. The subjects are mainly good luck, happiness and folklore, which reflect the good wishes and colorful life of people. Through many years’ hard work, NLC has collected more than 4000 New Year Pictures, which are rich in different subjects. In order to make readers use and appreciate the special collections in NLC, NLC will provide a lot of video resources of the New Year Pictures, and give an introduction to the drawing including the gist, background and some related knowledge.

·Digital Chronicles
Chronicles are specially owned by China, and they are one of the special collections of the National Library of China. The number and quality of the existing documents are very high. Using digital library to sort, process and compile the chronicles before Qing Dynasty (including Qing Dynasty) is useful for the preservation, dissmemination, research and exploration of Chinese special culture, which promotes the construction of digital resources.

·Min Guo Periodicals
The Chinese Min Guo periodicals are one of the documents of 1911-1949. In order to efficently protect and utilize the documents, NLC has already finished the microfilming of Min Guo periodicals in our library. In recent years, NLC has begun scanning the microfilms, and 6,000,000 microfilms will be changed into digital resources within 3 years.

·Oracle Bone Resources
Oracle bone inscription is one of the four literature discoveries in the 20th century, which is valuable material for doing research on the later Shang Dynasty. NLC has collected 35651 pieces of oracle bones, covering a quarter of the total number. In the best period of naturally preserving oracle bones, we use advanced image database to sort the oracle bones, so that the scholars can do research through the images of oracle bones and rubbings with high definition provided by Internet. In 2006, database of oracle bones includes 2964 pieces of metadata of oracle bones and 5932 pieces of images; and includes 2975 pieces of metadata of rubbings and 3177 pieces of images.

·Min Guo Laws
Min Guo Period refers to a historical period which is between Qing Dynasty and PRC. During this period, several governments with different nature appear, usually confronting each other to exist side by side. These governments have enacted lots of laws, codes and other criteria, which reflect the society from different perspectives, including politics, economics, military affairs, diplomacy, etc. Among them, there are lots of valuable history documents, which provide important literature source for doing research on Chinese modern history, history of the Republic of China, history of Chinese revolution and Chinese legal history. In order to help readers look up and read law materials in Min Guo Period, this database provides basic search, advanced search and PDF online browse. By January, 2007, this database has already issued 3503 pieces of law documents, amounting to 12769 pages.
