British Library believes legislation is the way to enhance the power of managing new publications in future. The Library suggests that the publications that are published in specific new media are required to deposit in legal depository. The deposit publications should include the publication that is published for archiving. Recently, thanks to the problems of limitation, technology and business, the publications from online database and Internet, also the monograph and journal are consisted in the first arrangement of legal deposit.

The Law of Legal Deposit is established in 1989 and forced in 1990. The Law covered not only printed materials, but also all works published in Denmark, regardless of the medium used for the production of copies.

The deposit of electronic publications is on voluntary basis. The Library provides the special conditions for preservation in order to collect the desired information.

The Royal Library constructs a legal deposit server in Internet. Therefore, the library can search the suitable information in the server via the notification from publishers.

The National Library of Canada has constructed the collection of electronic publications since 1994. In 1995, the library started the collection development project to increase its collection selectively. The library was officially became a legal deposit library in 1996. Moreover, the library established the Acquisition Department of Electronic Publications to manage the arrangement of the deposit between individual, government and publishers. Currently, the deposition of publication is on voluntary basis. The National Library of Canada advocates expanding the areas of legal deposit that includes the Internet publications. In 1998, the library announced the policy of Internet and electronic publications. The aim of the policy is to enhance the size of collection of Internet or other forms of publication. In September 2001, the library and the representatives of publishers announced the manual of electronic publications. The manual contains the problems of design, standard and implementation of the electronic publications. This manual reflects the purpose of collecting the publications by the Library. Users can access the electronic collection via the library website.
The search fileds include title, subject, and full text. All of them can search in AMICUS and Online Public Access Catalogue. The electronic publications can be accessed in the library. However, publishers would restrict the right of access. The method of access includes open access, remote access and in-house enquiry. Users can retrieve the bibliographic records via AMICUS.
