Meng Jianzhu, State Councilor and Minister of the Ministry of Public Security, Inspects the NLC

In the morning of 20 November, accompanied by Cai Anji and Huang Ming from the Ministry of Public Security, and Ouyang Jian, vice minister of the Ministry of Culture, Meng Jianzhu, state councilor and minister of the Ministry of Public Security, inspected the National Library of China (NLC). NLC deputy directors Chang Pijun, Chen Li, and Zhang Zhiqing received the guests.

The delegation visited the NLC North Area, including OPAC Hall, Chinese Books Area, Central Court, Information Commons, etc., understood self-registration of reade's card, virtual reality reading station, self-inquiry, OPAC services, intelligent stack navigation, China Digital Library for Visual Impairment (CDLVI), mobile digital library services, and so on, and heard the introduction to the NLC by the NLC deputy directors, especially the legislative services for the central committee and state organs.

Later on, the delegation visited the treasured collections, including the Complete Library of the Four Branches of Literature, Four Direction Wind Oracle Bone, Sima Guang's Mauscripts, Dunhuang Manuscripts, the Yongle Encyclopedia, Shen Ce Jun Bei and so on.

Meng Jianzhu affirmed the importance of libraries, and highly appraised the services and abundant collections of the NLC. And Ouyang Jian said that the NLC should go on innovating contents development and service manners of national digital library, so as to provide more spiritual food with higher quality.
