On 21 October 2009, director and deputy director of Department of Science and Technology for Culture, the Ministry of Culture, namely Yu Ping and Wang Feng, attended the 10th NLC Scientific Symposium, and held discussions with the NLC directors, deputy directors and principals of related NLC departments and divisions.

In the symposium, the NLC introduced the general situation, achievements and existing problems of the NLC scientific research work, especially the general situation of National Library Technology Standards Committee and the assumptions for cultivating librarians with higher degree. After hearing the report, Yu Ping and Wang Feng made a speech respectively, pointing out the significance of NLC scientific research work, and proposing directive opinions and suggestions to National Library Technology Standards Committee and the assumptions for cultivating librarians with higher degree.
