On June 28th, the 100th Historical and Cultural Lecture for Ministers was held in NLC Library of Ancient Books. This lecture, named The Re-recognition of the History of Song Dynasty, was made by Deng Xiaonan, professor of Historical Department, Peking University. More than 100 ministers attended to the lecture, which was hosted by Zhang Yafang, NLC deputy director.

The Historical and Cultural Lecture has been initiated since 2002. In the past six years, the lectures introduced the development progress of history of China and history of the world, general situation of important periods, and important events, which helped the ministers grasp the evolvement of history; introduced Chinese traditional culture, socialist culture with Chinese characteristics and western culture, which broadened the human horizon of the ministers and helped them understand the culture characteristics of different countries of the world; introduced representatives, works, and styles of different artistic schools home and abroad, which helped the ministers further understand the excellent art of China and the world and improved their artistic accomplishments.

In order to help the leaders grasp the essence of the lectures, the audio-visual materials of each lecture were provided and serial books, CDs and anthologies named The Historical and Cultural Lecture for Ministers were published, which were convenient for the leaders to study the lectures, and made the contents of lectures hand down from generation to generation without the limitation of time and space.

The lectures attracted the attention of every walk of life. Some provinces, cities and companies sent delegates to study the experiences of holding lectures, and then they went back to hold historical and cultural lectures for their local leaders.

The Historical and Cultural Lecture for Ministers has successfully held 100 lectures, which marks that the Lecture is more and more mature. Along with the development and improvement of the services, the Lecture will develop towards to the direction of high level, high taste, and high grade, which will play important roles for promoting the construction of learning political party.
