On June 20th, 2008, on the invitation of KSP Engel und Zimmermann Architekten, i.e. the design company of The National Library of China Phase II & National Digital Library of China, Zhang Yafang, NLC Deputy Director, attended the reception held by KSP Engel und Zimmermann Architekten. Mr. Engel, president of KSP Engel und Zimmermann Architekten, Mr. Zimmerman and his family, chief financial officer of the company, and other senior management attended the reception. Li Changming, director of NLC General Affairs Department, and related principals of China Railway Construction Engineering Group attended the reception.

Before the banquet, Zhang Yafang, NLC Deputy Director, and Mr. Engel, president of KSP Engel und Zimmermann Architekten made a friendly conversation, and they discussed the design the NLC Phase II, the development of National Library of China, the cultural exchange between China and Germany, and so on. Zhang Yafang, NLC Deputy Director, delivered a speech on behalf of National Library of China, which expressed thanks for the arduous work and earnest attitude of KSP Engel und Zimmermann Architekten. Mr. Engel made a speech on behalf of KSP Engel und Zimmermann Architekten, expressing that he was satisfied with the overall effect of the new building and showing his thanks for the understanding and cooperation of NLC during the construction period.
