On April 8th, 2008, Ms. Jan Fullerton, director of National Library of Australia, visited National Library of China, and made a lecture in the 6th NLC Forum of World Library Directors held by National Library of China.
Ms. Jan Fullerton was appointed as director of National Library of Australia in 1999, and she was the first woman to act as this important position in Australia. As director of National Library of Australia, Ms. Jan Fullerton was devoted to developing NLA as the pioneer in library filed by using technology innovation to provide information services for users.
The 6th NLC Forum of World Library Directors was hosted by Chen Li, deputy director of National Library of China. Many delegates from the following libraries attended the forum, including The Capital Library, Peking University Library, Beijing Dongcheng District Library, Library of Central Compilation & Translation Bureau, Library of North China Electronic Power University, and so on.
Ms. Jan Fullerton made a wonderful lecture named "Library Management: Exploration and Practice in 2008—Take National Library of Australia as an example", which introduced the following aspects, including NLA library collections, digital resources preservation and PANDORA project, reader services, cooperation home and abroad, NLA management and planning, human resources and so on.
Ms. Jan Fullerton also visited Stack specially designed for Si Ku Quan Shu, accompanied by the workers from NLC International Cooperation Division. Zhao Qian from NLC Library of Ancient Books made a detailed explanation for the guest.
