In the morning of March 23rd, a Symposium for Commemorating 100 Years Anniversary of Feng Zhongyun's Birthday was held in Beijing. The following members attended the symposium, including Qian zhengying, academician of China Engineering Academy and former deputy president of National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Chen Lei, minister of The Ministry of Water Resources of the People's Republic of China, Yi Junqing, director of Department of Propaganda of Hei Longjiang Province, Chen Li, deputy director of National Library of China, and so on. The symposium was hosted by Hu Siyi, deputy minister of The Ministry of Water Resources of the People's Republic of China. More than 400 people from all walks of life attended the symposium.

In the symposium, the following members made a speech respectively, including Chen Lei, Qian Zhengying, delegates from Tsinghua University, Harbin Institute of Technology, National Library of China, Hohai University, Primary School of Henglin Town, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, and Feng Yiluo, daughter of Feng Zhonglin. They reported the revolution spirits of Feng Zhongyun from different perspectives, and introduced the great contributions to national liberation and country construction made by Feng Zhonglin.

Chen Li made a speech on behalf of National Library of China. He introduced Feng Zhonglin's contributions to NLC collection construction and readers' services during his term period as the director of Beijing Library. He said that Feng Zhongyun paid great attention to the collection of revolutionary documents and manuscripts. During his term period, Beijing Library collected more than 5000 items of revolutionary documents and more than 1000 items manuscripts. As to services, during his term period, Beijing Library established readers' registration system, opened nighttime services and extended opening time, established reading room for science and technology, and so on.

Chen Li pointed out that in the past 50 years, National Library of China has made great progress on library collections and readers' services with the great care and attention of the government. It is a kind of commemoration that we recall his glorious lifetime and his contributions to Chinese revolution and culture construction, which encourages us to work hard and write the new chapters of National Library of China.
