| In the morning of April 3rd, 2007, Thailand Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has visited maps of NLC rare book department. Zhang Yafang, deputy director of the National Library of China (NLC), and Sun Xuelei, deputy director of NLC rare book department, have received the delegation. Bao Guoqing, a member of NLC rare book department has introduced more than 20 kinds of maps in NLC in details, including 8 kinds of world maps, and 13 kinds of Chinese maps.
The Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn is very interested in Chinese traditional culture, and she has been doing research on it for many years. It is her special demand to visit maps of NLC rare book department. During her visit, she is looking at the maps as well as taking records. In 2000, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn had ever visited NLC, and inscribed "Advanced Library" for NLC. She has also inscribed "There is no end to learning" for NLC during the visit once again. Zhang Yafang, deputy director of the National Library of China, has donated the replication copy of Map of the Detached Imoerial Residence on the West Lake to Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. In turn, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has also donated her diary during her study in China and Royal Siam Atlas to NLC.
In addition to the princess's entourages, ambassadors and Minister Counsellors of Embassy of Thailand in China, former ambassadors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Embassy of China in Thailand, personnel of the Department of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have also paid a visit to NLC together in company with the princess.
