As of the end of 2007, National Library of China has collected 30,381 pieces/boxes of CD-ROMs and 158,039 pieces/plates/boxes of AV materials, including 21,232 pieces of DVD, 1,880 pieces of LD, 70,529 pieces of VCD, 260 pieces of VHD, 14,608 cassettes of video recording, 32,042 pieces of CD, 967 pieces of microgroove records, and 476 pieces of MP3. All of the materials are mainly in Chinese, English and Japanese.

All of the AV materials and CD-ROMs can be searched in the OPAC. Users can read those materials in Electronic Reading Room I and Electronic Reading Room II after confirming that NLC has collected the materials. All of the databases can be accessed in the electronic reading room only.

E-Resources

Covering various subjects, such as language, literature, philosophy, religion, politics, politics, law, military science, cultural science, education, physical education, economics, arts, industrial technology, medical science and health, history, geography, mathematics, chemistry, astronomy and geoscience, biological science, agricultural science, aerospace, environmental science, safety science and so on.

Video materials

NLC has collected visual materials covering all subjects. Foreign classical stories are the important part of the video materials.

Audio materials

NLC has collected audio materials covering all subjects, including foreign classical music and songs, and recording materials about foreign language teaching.

Electronic Reading Room I and Electronic Reading Room II provide browsing services for CD-ROMs and electronic publications, Internet surfing, database retrieval. Audio-Visual materials are also read in these two reading rooms, include DVD, VCD, CD, Video Recordings, Sound Recordings, and so on. Please make a reservation if you need to read CD-ROMs or AV materials in weekends and holidays.

We provide SCI reference service, subject retrieval service, teaching training service, etc. Besides, we provide tailor-made services like scene clips, format conversion, are provided upon requested based on the resourceful AV materials and lots of advanced facilities. In addition, we provide document delivery services for remote users.

There are different types of format of the materials like MPEG-1、MPEG-2、MPEG-4, MP-3, WMV, WMA, AVI, WAV. At the same time, we have a conversion service which supports CD, VCD, DVD.
