Special collection is document resources accumulated for a long period of time in the library with certain scope and particular features .It is the fundamental basis for providing specific services to the readers and satisfying their further requirements.
Hundred years, endowed with imperial collections from Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing dynasties and personal collections from Ming and Qing bibliophiles, together with generations of library experts’ acquisitions and donations from contemporary personages, the National Library of China has developed special collections with a variety of categories. In the meantime, through publishing, microfilming and digitizing, the National Library of China establishes special collections on new carriers, and facilitate the access.
Such special collections are precious heritage of human culture. On the occasion of centennial of the National Library of China, the NLC holds this exhibition as an opportunity to present our special collections. The items of this exhibition include those from the government allocation, donations and librarian’s acquisitions. The contribution of these institutions and individuals is highly appreciated, which help the collection development of the National Library of China. This exhibition also provides a window for the readers to better understand the special collections of the National Library of China. |
